This is my senior project for graphic design, which consists of different products catered towards dogs. This idea came about because I have a dog myself and she has always been my muse for most of the projects that I have done. So I have decided to design packaging for a fictional company called Pupperstene.
The items that I have designed include:
When thinking of a theme for the packaging, I knew I wanted something that was fun and humorous. I wanted to go in that direction because I have always liked the cleverness it brings and I haven't seen many dog packages like it in stores. The theme that I ended up choosing for this project was a play on fast food for dogs. The treat boxes would be french fries, the canned food would be soda, the toy boxes would go accordingly with the food plushies to match the packaging humans typically receive at fast food restaurants, and the brochure would be a napkin.

In this project, the assignment was to pick a hobby that we enjoyed and build a brand for that fictional business. The hobby that I had chosen was baking and my fictional company was called Sweet Eats.
First, I had started with creating a logo for the company and choosing its color scheme. Then, it went on to creating the product packaging for the two different desserts. Lastly, was creating the interactive style guide, which is best viewed downloaded to get the full experience.

The assignment was to create a coffee packaging for a mythical creature or an occupation, of your choice, as your target audience. So, the target audience that I chose was zombies. When creating the logo part of the restrictions was to not just put a brown coffee bean or a coffee mug as the logo, but to dress it up a bit.
I chose to go with a black and white color scheme for the background because I wanted the images to stand out. The image for Headshot, I went with the color blue because when I think of a serum for zombies I think of the movie Resident Evil and how the serum was a blue liquid. I chose yellow for Waking Dead simply because the sun is yellow. I made the sticker label for Headshot a yellow black and Waking Dead a blue black to make more cohesive with one another.

This assignment has two parts to it. First, was to create a handmade font, which means that I needed to pick an item that I can physically hold and make it into the letters of the alphabet. I decided that I wanted to make my handmade font from twisty balloons because it was something that I wanted to learn how to do. Second, was to make a two-page spread editorial about the font that had a limit on the word count.

The project was to pick a favorite hobby of yours and create a two two-page spreads. The hobby that I had chosen was knitting. For this editorial I was inspired by many other two-page spreads that had embraced the white space. I wanted to attempt to add as much white space as possible because my natural response is to try to fill up the whole page by making the text or objects bigger.

This project was to pick a music artist, an album title from them and only use the names to make it into a book, the book was not suppose to relate to the music. I picked the artist Drake and his album "If You're Reading This It's Too Late". I picked him because I thought that could use his real name instead of his stage name so it can seem more like a real book.
I decided to make my book a mystery/adventure. I made it look like a package because in the story, that I had created, the main character receives a mysterious package of his father's journal. I also had to make a logo for a fictional publishing company called Hourglass Publishing, so I can place it on the spine of the sleeve and on one of the page inserts.
Software used: Adobe Illustrator
This logo was made for a department in a biotech company. They wanted the logo to incorporate a DNA helix or a molecular structure. I had started with sketching many different logos. Then brought one of sketches that I had liked the most into Illustrator and created three different versions of the same sketch. I had showed the Illustrator versions to the client for them to pick one of the three. Finally I had to revise the logo they had picked because they wanted to change a few things.

This game was created in a team of two people, which includes myself. I created the graphics on the game stage and ending stage and did some of the coding for Love Hurts. My partner and I both decided that we would like to make a 2-player game. We first brainstormed ideas of what games that 2 people can play. Once we picked a game, we thought of what we wanted it to look like and decided that we wanted it to look cute and use pastel colors.
This game originally has a beginning and end page, but unfortunately it does not work with the site that I uploaded the game to. The first includes the key controls for the game. The second page is the game itself and originally the background is a gradient. Also, the scores are shown at the top, but for the purpose of it being on my website I had to make it at the bottom so you would be able to see it. The last page has three different outcomes for if player one wins or two or if it ends up in a tie. If player one or two wins their character moves up and down, but if it ends up in a tie they don't move at all. The game also included background music, sound when you shoot the arrow, when the arrow pops the bubble, and when the gold bubble is popped.

This project was to create a long scrolling website of anything I wanted. So, I just used the story of Little Red Riding Hood. As you scroll down she starts to walk through the fairy tale forest to her grandmother's house. I added other fairy tale homes to her path as she walks through the forest.
Graphic Designer | Multimedia Artist
Hello! Welcome to my website. My name is Rachel (if you haven't already noticed). I graduated from California State East Bay with a Bachelor's of Arts in Graphic Design and Multimedia. Graphic Design is my first choice; I like creating packaging, designing websites, and creating logos. Then I decided to do Multimedia because not only was it just a few more classes to take and helped my family out, but I wanted to advance my web designing skills, learn how to do motion graphics, and how to edit and film videos properly.
I would say art is a strong passion of mine because I'm such a visual person and I simply enjoy doing different arts and crafts. I would describe the style of art that I enjoy doing as a cutesy cartoon for kids, but I also like to broaden my skills and do different art styles that aren’t in my comfort zone. I have learned and worked with many different forms of mediums, like charcoal, pastel, graphite, oil paint, gouache, clay, digital and the list could go on. Also, I like doing different crafts like knitting, baking, sewing, DIYs, etc. I would like to learn/do every art and craft possible, but there is not enough time in the world for something of that size. So, I'll just stick to learning things one at a time from the internet because we all know you can learn a lot of things from the internet.
If I wasn't in the art field I think I would like to be in a field where it involves coding because I really do enjoy it, even though it can be a pain at times, it is still satistfying once you pass those tough hurdles that drive you insane (a.k.a. creating this website...).
Anyways, thanks for taking the time to read through this and browsing through my website.
